Films

These films were a series of shorts created for the Savannah Ocean Exchange. For the project, a team of student film-makers collaborated with a team from National Geographic to develop the ideas.

Polly Bean Cooking Show

This short was created as a spoof of the well-known Paula Deen cooking show. Due to many components such as overfishing, the jellyfish populations are growing. This short illustrates that if we continue down this path, jellyfish will be all we have left in the ocean.

Sleeping with the Fishes

This short brings us to a point in time where tuna is so hard to find that it has found its place on the black market. The piece shows an exchange between two mob groups, in which the value of the tuna is highlighted.

Earth Clinic

Can you imagine what it would be like if planet Earth visited a doctor? This particular short presents that idea. Mother Earth visits a planetary doctor and realizes she has some serious ocean issues. Yet, the doctor tells Mother Earth that her condition can be remedied if everyone makes small changes to their daily lives.

Love Story

In this short, a chef is forced to start looking for love again because he has lost his true love: tuna. The chef signs up for a dating website, Catch.com, and finds a sustainable substitute for tuna.

The Other 99%

This short is a documentary style piece that relates recent protests around the world to our ocean. Unlike us, fish and other species of animals in the sea do not have a voice. They cannot speak out. It is up to us to give them a voice by educating ourselves and others on ways to protect our ocean.

Deathscape, Spring 2012

This film personifies the concepts of life and death. It also demonstrates how everything is connected within our world -  how every action has a reaction and a consequence.

Slumber, Spring 2012

The film contrasts a story of a brother and sister who have two very different life paths. It illustrates the concept of sacrifice and change. The song "Slumber" is by NEEDTOBREATHE.
